Shadsworth Infants School

Early Years

Clare Cambridge Pen portrait photoI have been the Early Years Foundation Stage (TLR) Lead and part of the Senior Leadership Team, at Shadsworth Infants School, for the past two years and lead a team of skilled Early Year’s Teachers and TA’s. Together we have successfully raised attainment in the foundation stage and continue to raise our Good Level of Development, year on year.
I have facilitated this role through modelling of quality first teaching, careful tracking and monitoring of progress, training and coaching of staff and developing a close and supportive team. I continue to lead change for the better of the school, the children and the team, whilst embedding and sustaining our high quality level of provision.

As part of the SLT I have also helped to raise attainment in KS1 through joint lesson observations, book scrutinies and feedback to staff. I have also coached colleagues and helped to enable them to further develop their own expertise. I hold regular performance management reviews for TAs, set targets and arrange CPD where required.

I am currently participating in the Putting Heads Together Again (PHTA) programme, where I am able to learn from some of the fantastic Head teachers and Leaders in our schools today. I attend frequent workshops and training opportunities through this programme. I have worked closely with a leading FOCUS consultant and Language for Life consultant (LfL) and was the LfL link for school. I am also part of a SIG group for the Early Years, where we share good practise, support one another and carry out moderations of specific areas of learning.

I also mentor teaching, college and work placement students and work closely with facilitators to provide in-house support, training, observations and feedback, where needed. I am also a fully trained Reading Recovery teacher, which has given me a greater insight into how children learn to read and continue to use elements of the programme in my everyday practise.

As you can see I draw on a wide array of skills, expertise and knowledge and continue to update my own practice. I am keen to share this with colleagues and to promote the ethos of the EYFS through collaboration, enhancing provision and enabling environments. I look forward to supporting colleagues on their journey and know that by working together we can succeed in providing high quality education for our children.
