EXPERIENCE

I currently work as an ‘Assistant Headteacher’ and have co-ordinator responsibility for English across all key stages in my school. I am also the School Lead for the School Direct TEAM Alliance (Blackburn) programme. During my career I have taught across both key stages and currently teach in Year 2. My KS1 SATS results are consistently above both local and national expectations. Prior to becoming an SLE I worked for a number of years as a Literacy AST for the authority. During this time I supported schools on placements ranging from a number of days to a term in length. My role involved supporting teachers, departments or SLT’s in developing identified areas of need. These included raising standards in phonics, developing quality guided reading, supporting co-ordinators new to role, addressing areas for development identified by Ofsted and raising standards in grammar or writing.

I have produced a number of materials which we now used across schools I have supported. These included a Grammar handbook, Phonics handbook, Talk for writing handbook and guided reading assessment guide.

I have delivered INSET training to schools both within and outside of the authority working with groups of between 5 and 50 people.

I am passionate about keeping up with all new developments in Education and have been a member of the ‘Bureaucracy Reference Group’ for the last 5 years. This involves working in an advisory capacity in the development stages of new policy and looking at how it can be implemented into school successfully. I am also currently a member of an expert panel working alongside the DFE writing the new TA Standards document.
