Wensley Fold Primary School
Computing and Pupil Premium
I have co-ordinator responsibility for Computer Science and Pupil Premium across all key stages in my school. I am an Associate Tutor for Schools Direct and have delivered the Computer Science training to P.G.C.E students on the program. I also have had experience in supporting NQTs, and teachers who are new to year group.
I currently teach in Year 5 at Wensley Fold CE Primary Academy and play a key role in its expansion through two form entry and various OFSTED inspections which have consistently seen the school rated as “outstanding”. My skills and use of computer science have been recogonised and I have gained the qualification of CAS (Computing At School) Master teacher. In the past I have worked with companies such as Promethean, 3P Learning, Learning Clip and 2simple trialing their classroom software and hardware.
Also I have been involved in initiatives such as trailing ‘Home School Devices’. The ideas, and good practice I have learned from these experiences have been both shared within my own school, and other local schools, where I have delivered staff meetings, insets and supported schools in purchasing and setting up devices so that the devices are being used to raise achievement from the beginning.
I am passionate about using technology as a tool to raise achievement. Over the past five years I have effectively introduced and established the use of the iPad as a tool for learning within the classroom. Here the device is used to support learning, raising achievement of the children, rather than being an add on or a showy creative tool.
I strongly believe that any progress or attainment gaps needs to be closed. I have successfully carried out Pupil Premium reviews within school and worked collaboratively with staff to analyse data and develop strategies to ensure Pupil premium pupils are able to close the gap with their peers and reach their full potential.
I believe that every school has the capacity to be a great school and I am committed to working with other schools to achieve this.
