Wensley Fold CE Primary Academy
I am a results focussed team player, currently employed as Assistant Head teacher with coordinator responsibility for numeracy across both Key Stage 1 and 2. I have been Key Stage 2 leader at Wensley Fold for over twenty years and have played a key role as a member of the Senior Leadership Team overseeing both its expansion through two form entry and various OFSTED inspections which have consistently seen the school rated as “outstanding”. During my tenure as a year six teacher I always achieve a 90% plus success rate against stringent targets for Reading, English and Maths consistently exceeding the national and regional averages. I have enjoyed success in terms of many pupils achieving Level 6 results in Mathematics.
I regularly lead INSET and staff training sessions and have been a key player in bringing innovation to our curriculum activity.
I am passionate about staff development and act as a mentor to NQT’s, support teachers new to year group and provide support to those who would benefit from additional input or the sharing of good practice. I previously fulfilled this role as an Advanced Skills Teacher in Mathematics for a decade enjoying the privilege of spending time in other schools with the aim of raising standards in Numeracy across the Borough. During this time I covered subject areas such as: planning and delivery of lessons, ordering and organisation of resources, evaluation and next steps discussions. I was also appointed Numeracy Consultant for Blackburn with Darwen, working with over ten schools which required additional support and the sharing of good practice.
