Wensley Fold CE Primary Academy

Emma Wilkinson

I have been employed at Wensley Fold CE Primary Academy for seven years. I have taught across key stage 1. I am now the Foundation Stage Leader and have been teaching in Reception for the past two years. I am responsible for leading phonics and music across the school.

I am a committed, driven and passionate Phonics Leader. During my career, I have supported NQTs, School Direct Associate Teachers, university students and other colleagues. I have modelled many Phonics sessions and I have given teachers support and advice on how to plan, teach, assess and use resources. I am very passionate about early reading and Phonics and therefore take great pleasure in mentoring staff and students to raise standards.

I have implemented schemes of work, planning and assessments. These are successfully being used to raise standards in my school and because of this; results are well above national average. I have also created a Phonics handbook which schools may use to ensure fidelity and a Phonics audit which can be used to create an action plan to ensure phonics is being taught effectively.

I have delivered CPD to all staff that teach or support Phonics. I have also shared my good practice with other Primary Schools in order for their results to improve across Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1.

I am motivated to help others improve by developing confidence in their teaching, identifying strengths and areas of development. I love a challenge and thrive on helping others to succeed.
