Assessment Closing the Gap

EXPERIENCE

I have been the deputy headteacher at Lower Darwen Primary School for 7 years. I love my role and I’m passionate about supporting teachers in providing an outstanding education for the children in their care. It is for this reason that I am so excited and enthusiastic about becoming a Specialist Leader of Education and the opportunity it gives me to support schools other than my own.
In my school, I currently lead assessment, pupil premium, data and pupil progress, wave 2 interventions and CPD. As Assessment Leader, I have lead my team on a turbulent yet positive journey over the past 2 years during our transition from levels to the implementation of our own system. The connection between my roles as Pupil Premium, Data, Pupil Progress and Wave 2 Interventions Leader enable me to precisely monitor the impact of the Pupil Premium Grant on closing the gap and ensuring that all groups of children within our school reach their full potential. I am also a certified Pupil Premium Reviewer and am therefore qualified to visit other schools to offer advice and guidance around maximising the impact of their Pupil Premium spending. My role as CPD lead has enabled me to support emerging leaders in my school and to support them in achieving their own leadership aspirations.
I am extremely keen to share my experiences with others outside of my own school community and I’m sure that my role as a Specialist Leader of Education with T.E.A.M School alliance will be the ideal opportunity for me to do so.
