EXPERIENCE

rebecca-uttleyAt the start of this academic year I moved to St. James’ Lower Darwen C.E. Primary school as Deputy headteacher and SENCO. Previously to this I was SENCO at St. Peter’s C.E Primary School for 6 years and during this time developed a wealth of knowledge in this area. In St. Peter’s school’s last Ofsted inspection the SEN provision was deemed ‘Outstanding’. I have submitted a large number of IPRA/EHCP applications and understand, in depth, the need for a ‘plan, do, review’ cycle in order to achieve a successful outcome at panel.

In addition to my role as SENCO I have been on the Senior Leadership team  as assistant head and acting deputy for a number of years and have been instrumental within this partnership in taking St. Peter’s school out of difficult circumstances to being a good school.

Last year I also undertook a secondment opportunity at another Blackburn with Darwen school where I worked with the Senior Leadership team on developing their policies and procedures, website compliance and developing teaching and learning across the school. I also mentored the SENCA there and helped her put together her first two successful EHCP panel submissions through a detailed understanding of provision mapping, staff deployment and evidence gathering from a wide range of agencies.

I feel my strength is as a team player and have worked successfully with a wide range of organisations to secure financial and educational provision for some of the most vulnerable children in the Borough. I have a passion for Special Educational needs and ensuring the best, inclusive outcomes for all children.
